In searching of knowledge, SRC Bangladesh follows unique values and principles in relation to the application of knowledge for solving and policy advocating with the practical world.
Ethical principles | Clarification |
Honesty | Honesty must be pursued in every scientific investigation. The scientist must be open and honest while discussing the data, findings, research techniques, and publication history. It is forbidden to manipulate statistics, lie to coworkers, grant-giving organizations, or the general public. |
Objectivity | In areas of scientific research where objectivity is crucial, such as the planning of the research stages, the analysis and interpretation of data, the evaluation of colleagues’ work, the hiring of staff, the preparation of grant applications, the provision of expert testimony, and other areas, partiality should be avoided. It is advised to try to stay away from bias and self-deception. Any financial or personal interests that might affect the scientific and reliable research must be disclosed by the researcher. |
Morality | The researcher must keep their word, be trustworthy, and look for ways to make their ideas and efforts sustainable. |
Prudence | The researcher must refrain from making thoughtless mistakes and omissions. It’s crucial to carefully and critically assess both your own work and that of your coworkers. It is suggested to compile and organize useful research-related notes (such as those made during data collecting, study planning, and interaction with agencies and journals). |
Openness | The researcher must be willing to accept criticism and new ideas as well as sharing data, concepts, tools, and resources. |
Informed consent | In order to offer their informed consent, research personnel and participants must get the proper information regarding the study (a) in an understandable manner (b) in a comprehensible manner (c) without undue pressure or improper enticement. The research team must have pursued the respondent’s consent either verbal or written form. |
Respect for intellectual property | The researcher must respect patents, copyright laws, and other types of intellectual property. They must also ask permission before using unpublished research data, techniques, or results, correctly reference any quotes they use, and give appropriate thanks to everyone who assisted with the research. Plagiarism by the researcher is absolutely prohibited. |
Respect for persons | All participants must give their informed consent, be free from coercion or undue influence, and have their rights, dignity, and autonomy respected and adequately protected. |
Beneficence and non-maleficence
| The value of the research should outweigh any risks or negative effects. Researchers should work to ensure that their studies are as beneficial to participants and themselves as possible. Strong safety measures should be taken to reduce any potential risk and injury. |
Confidentiality and data protection | The investigator is required to save all sensitive material, including manuscripts submitted for publication, employment data, trade secrets, military secrets, and patient health records and cannot share with other without the permission of SRC Bangladesh. Individual and group study participant requests for anonymity should be respected, as should participant need for the confidentiality of data and personal information. |
Responsible publication | For the interest of science and scientific research, not for the advancement of his professional career, the researcher should make publicize the findings of the study. The scientist should refrain from unneeded publishing or reprinting. |
Responsible management | The researcher should support staff’ education, mentor and counsel them in the interests of their wellbeing, and allow them to make personal decisions for themselves. |
Respect for colleagues | The researcher must treat his or her coworkers fairly and with respect. |
Social responsibility | The researcher must promote social welfare and try to avoid harm or reduce it through research, public education, and advocacy activities. |
Anti-discrimination | The researcher must avoid discrimination against colleagues of sex, race, nationality, or other factors unrelated to scientific excellence and honesty. |
Competence | The researcher must take steps to foster scientific competency in addition to maintaining and enhancing their own professional competence through lifelong learning. |
Legitimacy | The researcher must be aware of and abide by any institutional and governmental rules, as well as any laws that may be pertinent to his or her research. |
Security of people involved in | When |
Conflict of interest | Any conflicts of interest or partiality should be made transparent, and the independence of the research should be clear.
