Piloting of all tools

Before going to final intervention, all of the materials and study tools will be checked through piloting. Necessary construction will be followed after pilot testing.

Training of Research Team

SRCB will ensure proper training to all of its research team including enumerators, field supervisors, facilitators, interviewers, and note-takers including in safeguarding and research ethics. SRCB will seek help of the funding authority for conducting staff training.

Quality control checks

SRCB will ensure quality control checks on interviews done by field team through assigned field supervisor. Besides all activities will be centrally monitored by principal investigator.

Logistical and management planning

All the research activities will be monitored by the professional staff of SRCB. Principal investigator will be responsible for monitoring every research activity and assisted by research associate who will supervise field movement. Necessary logistic arrangement for data collection, processing and report writing will be facilitated by SRCB.

Data cleaning and editing before analysis

After conduction of field operation i.e., collection of field data, all data will be gone through a scrutinization process where information related to research objectives will be sorting out from other information.

Data entry and Management

After checking field level data, all data will be translated for the purpose of coding and data analysis. As it will be a qualitative study, collected data will be analyzed through a thematic analysis process.

Data protection guide and secure maintenance procedures

SRCB maintain strong policy regarding field data to be used ethically. SRCB don’t disclose individual identity, perception, ideology with them personal identity. Necessary information which are required for data processing is used for the purpose.  Prior to conducting individual interview, participant of any research has drawn their attention about what will be disclose, the purpose and strength of confidentialities so as participants could feel free to and informed about their participation benefits. SRCB also don’t disclose the findings and raw data outside the agreement and other third parties.

Obligations regarding non-disclosure of information and intellectual property rights will be specified in the contract for this consulting mandate.

Gender Equality and Inclusion Policy

SRCB maintains proper research ethic in terms of conducting field level data. SRCB also believes that an individual should be treated based on their gender role, socio-economic background and psycho-social perspectives. Social exclusion is distinct and frequently harsher for girls and women due to the fact that gender inequality exacerbates its harmful impacts. SRCB ensure gender sensitivities during field work and other operations a study entail e.g., non-disclosure of individual identities, case sensitivities, flexible withdrawn, not harm in terms of inter-personal facts and so on. At the institutional level, SRCB ensures equal power relationship between male and female staff in terms of role and responsibilities while ensuring women specific rights. Within its institutional structure, it has no record of gender discriminatory attitudes and violent behavior.

Informed Consent Policy

Obtaining participants’ knowledge-based permission is central to the SRCB methodology. Its goal is to ensure that human subjects may engage studies willingly and with a thorough understanding of the implications of participation. For the research purposes, SRCB will take respondents’ consent concerning data collection from adolescents and collation of data about adolescents. SRCB will aware that there will be nothing in this assignment which may be harmful for respondents regarding legal or medical ground. No one would be forced to provide information for the expected outputs/deliverables of this assignment. The objectives will be clearly explained to all the respondents of this assignment before gathering stories/data/photos/videos from them. The story, photos/video collectors will be abstained from collecting stories, videos and photos from those who will deny or show any kind of disinterest in providing information. Thus, verbal/written consent of the respondents must be taken before collecting stories, videos and photos or any types of data.

Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

In this context, “privacy” refers to the ability to regulate how much personal information (including one’s whereabouts, habits, and thoughts) is made available to others and under what conditions. It’s possible, for instance, that people would rather not be seen visiting a facility that may be seen as stigmatizing, like a pregnancy counselling center with prominent signage advertising its services. Consideration of the researcher’s access to information from or about prospective volunteers is also part of the privacy examination (e.g., recruitment process). Members of SRCB think about how to safeguard individuals’ right to privacy in light of their work with prospective participants and the private information they may have access to. SRCB maintains privacy as…

  • About people
  • A sense of being in control of access that others have to ourselves
  • A right to be protected
  • Is in the eye of the participant, not the researcher

When someone discloses anything to you in a trusted relationship, they

anticipate that you won’t share that information with anybody else without their express consent, and you should consider that information as confidential.

Subjects, if relevant, must be made aware of the measures that will be taken to safeguard their data and the entities that will have access to it throughout the informed consent process (e.g., research team). Subjects will be able to judge for themselves whether or not the safeguards are sufficient and whether or not the disclosure of sensitive information is acceptable to the receiving parties. SRCB maintains confidentiality in terms of…

  • Is about identifiable data
  • Is an extension of privacy
  • Is an agreement about maintenance and who has access to identifiable data

Protect from harm policy

As a research ethics platform, SRCB ensures that no participants are harmed in any way. There must be solid reasons for every situation in which individuals are at risk of damage or discomfort. In addition to (a) careful preparation to show how potential risks to participants would be mitigated, (b) obtaining participants’ informed permission, and (c) conducting thorough post-experiment debriefings, such circumstances will call for certain extra steps. For instance, SRCB care about…

  • Physical harm to participa
  • Psychological distress and discomfort.
  • Social disadvantages
  • Harm to participants’ financial status
  • An invasion of participants? privacy and anonymity.

Potential RiskDescriptionContingency Plan
Location and transportation:

The study locations are remote and scattered geographical location. So this is important to reach the target respondent using local transportation.

SRCB has experience to work in these locations. Necessary number of data enumerator from the locality (in the most priority based) will be employed and deployed for data collection.

Political situation:

Impact of National Election and any unexpected political situation may hamper the overall evaluation survey as completion within timeline.

Situation based plan will be developed and field program will be designed following the suite manner

Scatter area and Mobile network/ internet connectivity:

Study participants located in scattered which may affect or take time for data collection. In the study area mobile network might be fluctuate/down of frequency as well as internet connectivity using mobile network that may hamper communication during household survey or stakeholder communication.

Backup model for field approach will be applied.

Target respondent may not be present

During data collection as poor households are going out for earning wages as mostly they are daily labour.

Backup plan will be adopted to catch up the respondent.

Field entrance protocol

As this study gender and child based, SRC Bangladesh will require necessary protocol for field data collection. For the cases SRC Bangladesh will ask the help of funding agency. SRC Bangladesh will coordinate with funding agency to obtain and adhere to research ethics approval processes from a relevant authorized body before commencement of data collection. Full ethics approval will be obtained before the qualitative assessment activities commence as required.
